Early Childhood Intervention

Nearly 80% of indigenous children under five are malnourished. Targeting the first 1,000 days of a child’s life is critical for physical and cognitive development. The root of the problem is that mothers are malnourished when pregnant so the baby doesn’t get a good start. The problem continues when mom is breastfeeding and lacks proper nutrition.

We provide pre-natal/post-natal vitamins for women and multivitamins for children. To augment nutrition, we provide Incaparina for children over the age of 2. Mom and baby are monitored each month at our health centers.

Most families do not have the financial resources for dental care yet dental pain keeps kids out of school.  Children under the age of 12 are treated free at our dental clinics.  Most procedures for adults and children over the age of 12 cost only Q10 (about $1.25)
