Early Childhood Intervention

Nearly 80% of indigenous children under five are malnourished. Targeting the first 1,000 days of a child’s life is critical for physical and cognitive development. The root of the problem is that mothers are malnourished when pregnant so the baby doesn’t get a good start. The problem continues when mom is breastfeeding and lacks proper nutrition.

Through a grant from Vitamin Angels, we provide pre-natal/post-natal vitamins to women and multivitamins for children under the age of 60 months. To augment nutrition, we provide Incaparina for children over the age of 2. Mom and baby are monitored each month at our health center.
