Board Of Directors

Lois Werner, President & Co-Founder:  Born and raised in Michigan, Lois graduated from Lansing Business University and Northwestern Michigan College.  She earned her Business Administration degree from Florida International University. Lois started her career in banking in Traverse City. In 1986, she moved to Naples, Florida with her husband Ken. Lois has broad experience in philanthropy and donates her time for People for Guatemala. She lives permanently near Antigua, Guatemala.

Sharon M. Carlson, Ed.D.:  Sharon received her doctorate in education in 1988 and has 40 years’ teaching experience. She recently retired from the Collier County School District.  Her expertise is developing reading and math curriculums. She created Teachers Helping Teachers, an innovative program to train teachers in rural Guatemala schools how to teach reading and math. She lives in Conover, Wisconsin.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Dillingham:  A former Michigander, Betsy and her husband, Dale, reside in Naples, Florida. She works in the Finance and Accounting Department at Florida Gulf Coast University while taking classes to complete her degree in Legal Studies. Betsy is our liaison between the Guatemala and Florida office.
